Editor's Note, 3 October 2026: New review, from the field notes of our snowboard crews at Whistler Blackcomb.
Shaun and Tony, two of our pro riders, took the Jones Flagship Pro down Whistler's scraped-off ice and through the afternoon slush, and it never flinched. It needs a strong rider to get the best from it. It scores 86 out of 100 and ranks #1 in our best snowboards guide as our best Men's Snowboard.
Jones Flagship Pro
Bottom Line : A steamroller for strong riders: razor grip on ice, calm through the worst crud and effortless in powder. It asks for real leg power in return.
Pros
- Locks in on scraped-off ice
- Ploughs through afternoon slush
- Damp and stable in steep powder
Cons
- Hard work at slow speeds
- Needs a strong, forward stance
- Not a park board
On the Mountain
On the scraped-off ice wall down Peak to Creek it locked in completely. Hold a solid, powerful stance and it simply does not let go.
Absolutely plowed through the chewed-up afternoon slush on the lower mountain. No chatter at all.
Tony, pro rider
In the deep pockets off the Harmony Express it kept its nose up easily, damp and stable in the steep stuff. TheGoodRide, which rates it among the stiffest boards it has tested, found the same speed and composure in chopped-up snow.
Where It Asks Something of You
It asks for strength. At slow speeds it feels sluggish, and Ryan and James, riding with our intermediate crew, could not get it going fast enough to engage the turns. Their legs were done by lunchtime, while Shaun and Tony were thriving on it in the bowls.
It is not a park board. The crew did not take it into the Blackcomb park at all: it is too heavy, stiff and directional for jibbing.
Spec Sheet vs Our Test
- Very stiff, directional flex: Locked in on ice at speed; hard work at slow speed
- 3D Contour nose and set-back stance: Nose stayed up easily in deep pockets
- Damped construction: No chatter at all in afternoon slush
Should You Buy the Jones Flagship Pro?
Yes, if you are a strong rider who wants the most stable, grippy big-mountain board we rode. If you are still building your technique, TheGoodRide points to the softer regular Flagship, and our Arbor El Camino is the kinder choice. Our pros rode the 162W; TheGoodRide's guide puts the 158 around a US 8 to 9 boot.
Strong, confident riders who want speed and stability on steep, big-mountain terrain. Shaun and Tony, our two pro riders, got the most from it.
