In the Field
Our testers ran the WEN 56235i on an RV boondocking trip and at a suburban tailgate. It ran a 13,500 BTU AC, a toaster, a CPAP and a TV, and read about 51 dBA.
On its 1.1 gallon tank it lasted 10.5 hours at a quarter load. That puts it level with generators that cost far more.
The carburetor fuel shutoff lets you run it dry before storage, so stale fuel never varnishes the jets between trips. At 39 lb it is also among the lightest full-size units we tested.
Where It Asks Something of You
It is a budget machine. It is quiet and capable for the price, but it lacks the engine refinement and long-term track record of the Honda EU2200i.
Spec Sheet vs Our Test
Super quiet. WEN sells it as super quiet. We read about 51 dBA, quieter than most 2,000 W class units here and close to the Honda EU2200i.
Ultralight at 39 lb. WEN lists 39 lb. That matches the lightest full-size units in our guide, alongside the Champion 2500 Ultralight.
Fuel shutoff. WEN says the shutoff protects the engine by emptying the carburetor. Our testers used it exactly that way, and it is the best storage feature in this price range.
Should You Buy the WEN 56235i?
Buy it if you want near-Honda quiet without premium money, especially for occasional camping and tailgates.
Skip it if you run a generator hard every week: the Honda EU2200i is the one that lasts. For more runtime per gallon at a quarter load, the Champion 2500 Ultralight ran 11.5 hours.
