Editor's Note, 10 October 2026: New review, from the field notes of Sean Williams and Ryan Williams, who ran it on RVs at Lake Tahoe, 6,225 ft up, in August 2026.
The Pulsar 4500W Dual Fuel started a 15,000 BTU RV air conditioner on gas at 6,225 ft with no soft starter, and rolled over the pine-needle paths at Camp Richardson like a suitcase. It scores 82 out of 100 and ranks #8 in our best generators for RVs guide as our best mid-range dual fuel RV generator.
Pulsar 4500W Dual Fuel Inverter
- Output: 3,700 W running, as tested
- Our runtime: 14 hr on 3.2 gal at 25% load
- Our noise reading: 59 dBA with the AC on
- Weight: about 108 lb
Bottom Line : A solid mid-range dual fuel generator: it started the 15,000 BTU AC on gas with no soft starter and rolls like a suitcase.
Pros
- Started a 15,000 BTU AC on gas, no soft starter
- 14 hours on gas at a quarter load
- Remote start fob and TT-30R outlet
- Suitcase-style handle
Cons
- Two people to load it
- Owners report budget-feeling plastic wheels
- Not as quiet as the Westinghouse
At Lake Tahoe
Sean ran the Pulsar at Lake Tahoe and put its running power at roughly 2,900 W on gas after the altitude loss. It still started the 15,000 BTU air conditioner with no soft starter and kept small battery chargers running alongside it.
Its 3.2 gallon tank ran 14 hours at a quarter load, and the dual fuel selector switched between gas and propane smoothly.
Under AC load it read 59 dBA at 23 ft, with a low-pitched inverter hum. The wireless remote fob, TT-30R outlet and digital meter cover the RV basics.
The extendable, suitcase-style handle and rear wheels rolled it cleanly over the pine needles at Camp Richardson, one person at a time.
Where It Asks Something of You
At about 108 lb it took two people to load into the truck bed.
Owners report the plastic wheels feel budget next to Champion's, though they say the engine and fob hold up over multi-week trips.
It is a middle-of-the-pack performer: quieter than the Champion, louder than the Westinghouse, and it ran a big second load less confidently than the GENMAX.
Spec Sheet vs Our Test
4,000 running watts on gas (current model). We tested the P4500i at 3,700 running watts; the button goes to Pulsar's current PG5000BiSRCO, rated at 4,000 on gas and 3,600 on propane. Our unit started a 15,000 BTU AC at 6,225 ft, so the stronger current model has a little more margin.
Ideal for 13,500 BTU air conditioners. Pulsar pitches the PG5000BiSRCO at 13,500 BTU units. Our P4500i started a 15,000 BTU unit with no soft starter at altitude, so that claim reads as conservative.
Up to 9 hours at half load on 3 gallons. That is the current model's figure. Ours ran 14 hours on 3.2 gallons at a quarter load, which is consistent once you allow for the lighter load.
65 dB. Pulsar rates the current model at 65 dB. We read 59 dBA at 23 ft under AC load on the P4500i. Expect the bigger current model to be a little louder than ours.
Telescoping handle with wheel kit. It worked as sold: one person rolled it over pine needles and packed dirt without trouble. Lifting is another matter at about 108 lb.
Should You Buy the Pulsar 4500W Dual Fuel Inverter?
Buy it if you want a mid-range dual fuel generator with a remote fob and a 30 amp outlet that will start a 15,000 BTU AC. It does the RV basics well without stepping up to the premium names.
Skip it if you want the quietest night (the Westinghouse iGen4500DF) or the longest one on propane (the Champion 4500). One note: we tested the P4500i, and the button goes to Pulsar's current PG5000BiSRCO, a dual fuel, 30 amp, remote start model.
