The Wakeman Outdoors 4 Person opened instantly for Ryan, then went flat in a 15 mph gust and let 6 oz of rain inside. It scores 62 out of 100 and ranks #10 in our best pop-up tents guide as our best pop-up tent for an instant open.
What is the best pop-up tent for an instant open?
The best pop-up tent for an instant open is the Wakeman Outdoors 4 Person Pop-Up Tent, which opened instantly for Ryan but let in 6 oz in our rain test and went flat in a 15 mph gust, so we would not buy it for weather.

Pros
- Opens instantly

Cons

- Windward wall went flat at 15 mph
- Very thin floor
- Wire frame warped after 15 pack-downs
On the Bench and at the Campground
Ryan ran both phases: the bench on 6 October 2026 and the campground on 11 October. It weighed 5.5 lb, with a 108 x 78 inch floor and a 47 inch peak.
The pitch is instant. Packing is where it fights back: on trial 4 the tension in the wire frame fought Ryan all the way into the bag, and after 15 pack-downs the frame had warped slightly.
Inside, one queen airbed fits but touches the walls, and with four people there is no room for gear.
Where It Asks Something of You
Weather. At the campground a 15 mph peak gust pushed the windward wall completely flat. In the rain chamber, 60 minutes at 1.5 in/hr put 6 oz inside, with condensation on the single wall and minor seam weeping.
The floor is very thin, so put a footprint under it on anything rougher than grass.
Spec Sheet vs Our Test
Easy pop up. True. It opened instantly. Packing it away is harder, and the wire frame fought Ryan on trial 4.
Rainfly. The listing includes a rainfly, but in our 60 minute chamber run 6 oz got in through condensation and weeping seams. It scored 5 out of 10 for water ingress and seams.
4 person. One queen airbed fits, touching the walls, and four people leave no room for gear. Two is more realistic.
Should You Buy the Wakeman Outdoors 4 Person Pop-Up Tent?
Buy the Wakeman only for dry nights where an instant open is all you need, and keep a footprint under its thin floor.
Do not buy it for wind or rain: it went flat at 15 mph and let in 6 oz. The Fanttik Alpha C4 Ultra stayed dry and held a 25 mph gust, and the Night Cat Pop Up Tent is lighter at 4.2 lb.

Sean, Emma, James and Annie tested the other five new tents, with 12 timed trials per tent, a 60-minute rain chamber run and a campground phase. Gazelle and Coleman scores and figures come from their own reviews.
