Our Verdict: NTK Laredo GT
If you’re looking for a durable large camping tent that can fit two families inside, the NTK Laredo GT tent is an excellent choice.
It offers just over 150 square feet of floor space, which breaks down to almost 17 square feet per person if you max out this tent’s capacity.
We also love that the rain fly offers full coverage, which isn’t often the case with family camping tents.
This means better waterproofing and less likelihood of leaks into the body of the tent.
Overall, this tent is a little bit on the expensive side because you’re paying for 100% virgin pole materials and a super fine polyester mesh. This keeps even the smallest of insects from entering the tent, but it also means you will have to dig deeper to get it.

Value For Money
NTK Laredo GT tent is fairly comparably priced with other tents of this size.
The reason it falls near the middle of our rankings is simply because it’s not the cheapest large tent on the market.
Value For Money Rating
The truth of the matter is, you can almost always find a cheaper tent.
But you’ll often be sacrificing quality in order to save a few bucks off the initial cost. And if that cheaper tent doesn’t last, you might wish you made a bigger up-front investment.
Through the course of our testing…
We were consistently impressed with the quality and durability of this tent. It provides great value and you can rest assured it’s going to last.
Ease of Setup
The NTK Laredo GT Tent comes with a total of four main poles and one pole that gives structure to the tent’s sheltered entryway.
The poles are color-coded to make installation even easier, while the two central poles cross each other to provide an X-shaped structure.
Ease Of Setup Rating
The other two poles run width-wise across the tent to provide additional structure to the length of the tent.
From there…
It’s as easy as throwing on the full coverage rain fly, securing it down, and inserting the small pole over the entryway.
Overall Comfort
The NTK Laredo GT tent provides plenty of space for up to 9 people.
Although it only has a single door for entry and exit, it does offer a large window to improve ventilation through the tent.
Overall Comfort Rating
We would have liked to see an interior divider in it so that two families could have more privacy when using it together.
But this tent does offer something that many large tents do not: a 2500 mm water column to keep the interior of the tent dry.
There’s quite possibly nothing less comfortable during a camping trip than waking up to a wet sleeping bag!
Weather Resistance
The full coverage rain fly on this tent is made with double-layer, 190T polyester.
That initial double layer of material is then laminated with 100% waterproof polyester with polyurethane.
Weather Resistance Rating
This lamination creates a 2500 mm water column within the rain fly to improve weather resistance.
The floor material on this tent is seamless high-strength polyethylene.
The seamless nature of this material helps to prevent leakage in this area of the tent as well. The only gripe we had with this tent’s weather resistance was its lack of a ground tarp. But this isn’t really a normal feature for tents this size, so we couldn’t knock the Laredo for it.
Workmanship
The fantastic workmanship certainly makes it worth the money.
We love the fact that the rain fly is nice and thick and the mosquito net fabric on the body of the tent serves to add an element of mosquito repellent.
Workmanship Rating
But that’s not all…
The manufacturer uses fiberglass for the poles and they’re thicker than comparable poles on other large tents.
This extra pole thickness improves overall durability.
We also need to mention the Nano Fiber technology used in the elastic on the tent poles.
This improves the strength of the elastic and reduces the likelihood of it snapping if stressed. The only reason this tent was lower on our list is the incredible quality of several of the other tents ranked slightly higher.
Packed Size
The Laredo GT has packed dimensions of 31” x 12” x 12”.
So it falls right in the middle of the pack in terms of our packed size rankings. If you’re looking for a large tent with smaller packed dimensions, check out the Coleman 8-Person Dome Tent!

Our Final Verdict: NTK Laredo GT
When it comes to finding a family tent with a full coverage rain fly, there aren’t many that are better than the NTK Laredo GT!
While it’s a non-freestanding tent, the Laredo offers an easy set up so you can get straight into the job of enjoying your camping adventure.
Just what you need.
It’s also a perfect choice for larger families so everyone has enough space to sleep comfortably.
And with a peak height of 6.2 feet, it has enough room for taller guys and dolls to stand upright inside!
Our Final verdict Rating
Conclusion: NTK Laredo GT
To wrap it all up…
This NTK beauty boasts 150 square feet of interior space, which is plenty for multiple families to sleep comfortably.
That amount of interior space will also come in super handy if a rainstorm dampens your camping trip for a few hours and you need somewhere to shelter.
And when it comes to weather resistance, it’s one of the few tents of this size that comes with a full coverage rain fly and a 2500-millimeter water column. These technical features really just boil down to added benefit of keeping you and your gear dry when you’re inside.
If you’re in search of one of the best large tents with a 9-person capacity, the Laredo GT is an excellent option for camping in wetter climates.
You’ll love the size and functionality of this large family camping tent!
So go on – treat your whole family to a great home away from home for your next trip – don’t let it be long before you’re off either!
