Our Verdict: Denver Colorado Deluxe Canvas Wall Tent

If you’re looking for a tent to suit a family, you’ll love the Denver Colorado Deluxe Canvas Wall Tent.

If you’re a family camper who likes to share outdoor experiences with a large group, you’ll love the Denver Colorado Deluxe Canvas Wall Tent.

The sheer size of this tent makes it TopNotch for luxury family camping trips.

It’s even easy to use as a gazebo for day trips – just leave the walls up.

You’ll find it pretty straightforward to set up with a color-coded pole system that makes it quick to know what goes where.

The only downside…

Is that it’s not easy to set up alone

You’ll need at least two people to get it ready.

Also, if you happen to want to move it to a new location, it’s best to take it down and start from scratch rather than trying to move the assembled tent.

Overall, we felt this tent would be great for families who love camping, or a group of friends who love the social experience of being together in the Great Outdoors.

The Denver Colorado Wall Tent was one of many that we tested in a variety of outdoor settings – from my backyard to the wilderness with a group of family friends, in all weathers.

Performance Comparison

We ran the Denver Colorado Tent through some rigorous testing, and we found it to be TopNotch for a comfy living experience while out in the bush or mountains.

The metrics we used covered a whole range of features (you’ll see later), so you can be sure this is a full and comprehensive round-up of what you can expect from the Colorado Tent.

This Denver Tent is great for group camping, or for a luxury glamping experience for 2

It’s not the best for solo campers, couples on the move, or backpackers – it’s simply too large and cumbersome for one person to deal with, not to mention being too heavy to carry around on your back.

Let’s delve into what makes this product super for luxury or group camping

Livability

This is where the Denver Wall Tent really shines. We found the living experience to be TopNotch, for up to 10 people at once.

What makes it so great?

Firstly, the size variety you can choose from makes it perfectly easy to find something to best suit your family or group.

Whatever size you choose, there’s more than enough space for everyone to be able to stretch out in their own zone.

The 3 windows and wide, 3-way zipper door allow for good ventilation, and the 5” fiberglass stove pipe shield makes cooking a breeze in this fabric chalet.

The windows are screened to help you avoid mozzies as much as possible while still catching the breeze.

Verdict?

If you’re looking for a comfortable, spacious, group camping experience, the Denver Colorado would be an awesome canvas home away from home.

Weather Resistance

The Denver Colorado Deluxe Canvas Wall Tent is high up in the ranks when it comes to weather resistance.

It’s constructed from 10.10-oz Army Duck flame retardant canvas, which is waterproof and resistant to mildew.

It also features an easy-to-use weather flap on the door, so you can quickly cover up all those potential breezy spots.

As well as being covered if it does rain, the tent also has an 18-oz heavy-duty vinyl sod cloth, to keep you dry underfoot

It did lose points for…

The fact that this tent didn’t come with a groundsheet. You’ll need to buy one separately, but with the high-quality sod cloth, you should be pretty well protected from rain and cold breezes.

Bottom Line?

The waterproof canvas, sod cloth, and polyvinyl self-shrinking thread, the Colorado tent should keep you impressively warm and dry

Value For Money

This is where the Denver Colorado Deluxe Canvas Wall Tent falls slightly behind its competitors.

Want to know why?

While it’s impressively weatherproof and super easy to make yourself at home in, it’s more pricey than others – for the same (or fewer) features.

Denver Colorado tents are not cheap. While they have some great features, when comparing them side-by-side to others we found it hard to give them more than a 5/10 for value.

The most notable differences from the top-of-the-range tents were the absence of a groundsheet and the lack of pockets or storage areas throughout the tent.

What did we think?…

The Denver Colorado scores high on certain points, but value for money isn’t one of them. If you’re looking for something straightforward and simple, the Colorado will do it for you – but at a price.

Durability

When it comes to durability, the Denver scores pretty well, at 7/10. If you’re a regular camper, it’s a good idea to buy something sturdy from the start – it’s a big investment, so you don’t want to have to replace your tent often.

How Long Will It Last?

The tent is quite well-constructed, and should last a good many seasons if you look after it properly.

The steel frame is hardcore and won’t be breaking any time soon, no matter how you manhandle it.

The tent cover is made from Army Duck canvas. You can choose regular or flame-retardant material.

Polyvinyl self-sealing thread keeps the fabric tight and tear-resistant, so you don’t have to worry when roughing it.

Final Thought:

This tent won’t be burning, leaking, tearing, or buckling any time soon.

It scored a healthy 7 in our tests but was some way down our chart – don’t forget though that it was up against the very best of the best in its class.

Ease Of Use

The Denver is made for a group, but it also requires a group to set it up – we couldn’t do it alone and we’re seasoned experts at this.

What does this mean?

It means that this could be difficult for couples, kids, or shorter people to set up or take down.

Although the color-coded poles make it super simple to figure out which poles go where, the frame is quite wide and the tent cover is heavy.

One person attempting to set up by themselves could come away very frustrated at best, or injured at worst.

It’s way quicker and easier to get a couple of others roped in to help build it with as little hassle as possible.

Given that this tent is best for families or groups, it’s likely you’ll have the extra help ready!

Versatility

It’s hard to take a 10-man tent everywhere

We tested this tent in a few different settings – in the backyard and out on our testing trip, and found it works really well in some places, and not so well in other locations.

It’s definitely not for carrying around with you.

If you’re planning on being in a fairly spacious setting for some time, it would be a great choice.

In comparison to other tents, the Denver is a little difficult to adapt to many settings. It works great for camping in open areas or sparse forests, where you have space for the actual tent plus a good 5’ feet around it for guy lines.

It could work adequately as a garden tent/gazebo

The doors open quite wide and it would be helpful for events or occasions. We did have to use our own groundsheet though.

This one is definitely not the easiest to carry around with you or to set up in tighter spots.

The waterproof canvas, sod cloth, and polyvinyl self-shrinking thread, the Colorado tent should keep you impressively warm and dry.

Conclusion:
Denver Colorado Deluxe Canvas Wall Tent

Now we’re at the end of this Denver Colorado Deluxe Canvas Wall Tent review, you should have a pretty good idea of the quality and performance of this product in comparison to others in the class.

It scored best for livability and weather resistance, and came in strong for durability as well.

Whatever your camping needs, this tent would have you covered!

Romantic getaway for two? The Denver Colorado would make for a luxurious homely environment.

Trip with the unruly kids? This wall tent would allow you each your space.

Throwing a bash in the backyard? Set up the Denver for extra covered space.

What we can tell you is:

If you’re keen for group camping in any weather, like space to stretch out in your sleeping bag, and don’t mind a bit of a group effort to set up, you’ll find you’ll have many years of great use out of  this tent.

We’ve done the hard work – now it’s over to you to make your choice…

Other Versions: Denver Tents

We tested the 12’ x 14’ version of this tent. If you have a bigger (or smaller) family or group of friends, you might prefer the:

10’ x 12’

14’ x 17’

16’ x 20’

Although the manufacturer doesn’t specify weights for each, you can expect that the larger tents will have a few extra pounds of weight behind them.
