Our Analysis, Comparisons, and Test Results
The Coleman Montana 8-Person Tent scored 78 out of 100 overall.
It is strongest on value for money and weakest on weather resistance.
Here is how it did on every metric we tested, with exactly how each score compares to the rest of the field.
Value for Money
One of the cheaper large cabins here and a long standing Coleman value pick.
Includes a rainfly and packs sensibly for the price.
Good starter family tent if the weather is kind.
You do trade weather sealing for the low price.

| Best in test | 10/10 |
| Coleman Montana 8-Person Tent | 8/10 |
| Category average | 6.9/10 |
| Worst in test | 5/10 |
Ease of Set-Up
About 15 minutes once you know the pole layout.
First time and solo setup is fiddly, the poles take figuring out.
You might be wondering:
The rainfly is awkward to wrangle alone.
Two people make it much smoother.

| Best in test | 10/10 |
| Coleman Montana 8-Person Tent | 7/10 |
| Category average | 6.7/10 |
| Worst in test | 3/10 |
Overall Comfort
Fits multiple airbeds with a hinged door for easy in and out.
Decent headroom near the center under the angled walls.
Roomy enough for a small family plus gear.
Usable floor is less than the footprint because the walls slope in.

Weather Resistance
The weakest weather score here, and rain is its known limitation.
Rated eight person capacity overstates by roughly 2x, so four sleepers is realistic.
The fly is partial and does not cover the seam where the body meets the bathtub floor.
Testers saw that floor seam leak after 15 to 20 minutes of heavy rain.
Reviewers strongly advise waterproofing spray and seam sealer before wet trips.

Workmanship
Serviceable build but clearly the budget end of this list.
The uncovered floor seam is the main design shortcut.
Poles and fabric are light and need care.
Fine for gentle campground use, less so for hard repeated trips.

Lighter and less bulky than the big CORE cabins.
Still a two hand lift, not a carry distance bag.
Reasonable trunk footprint for its floor size.
