This is the Ultimate TopNotch Review of the Mountain Trails Grand Pass Tent 2026 10 person tent….

Finding enough space to fit your whole family under one roof when camping can be challenging.

Many large tents might have enough space but they wind up being super heavy and they can take up a bunch of space in your car.

So it’s rare to find a ten person tent that could feasibly be used for short backpacking trips as well as car camping.

But the Mountain Trails Grand Pass Tent is just that.

In this comprehensive review we’ll cover:

  • Why it’s super easy to set up once you get to camp
  • How comfortable you’ll be inside
  • Where it ranks against competition in terms of durability
  • Lots more...

So if you need a new tent for 10 person use, buckle up.

Let’s get started.

There are other budget-friendly large tents for 10 person capacity that do offer more features and better workmanship.

Ease of Use

The Grand Pass comes with five shock-corded fiberglass poles that provide the majority of the support for its structure.

The two main shock-corded poles are easy to insert through the sleeves on the body and they cross at the top to form an X shape.

These poles form the main dome-shaped structure

Two more shock-corded fiberglass poles run from the front to the back to provide support for the two extensions on either side of the main dome area.

The final pole goes through a sleeve on the underside of the rain fly in front of the two large D-style doors to create a really cool exterior awning.

All the shock corded fiberglass poles secure using a pin and ring system at the base of the tent. There are a total of four pin and ring locations that provide the anchor points for the poles.

And…

When you’re done erecting the main body of the tent, the rain fly easily sets on top and secures down to these pin and ring locations using bungee cords with hooks on the end.

Simple.

Durability & Workmanship

The floor is constructed of polyethylene, which is a very common material used for flooring in many of the best large tents.

The windows and doors are mesh polyester and the main body is also polyester.

The rain fly is constructed of nylon material.

One thing we really appreciated about its workmanship was the Stow N’ Go duffel that everything packs into when you’re not using it.

With a total weight of just 21.1 pounds and a packed size of 30 x 12 x 12 inches, it’s possible to split the different elements out of the Stow N’ Go Duffel system to spread the weight out amongst your fellow campers.

That gives you the potential to use this tent for a short backpacking trip with say, six or more people, even if it doesn’t have separate rooms for privacy.

Overall…

There are certainly more durable options with better workmanship out there, including the Coleman WeatherMaster Tents 10 Person, for instance.

Weather Resistance

As I mentioned earlier…

This tent is best suited to mild summer conditions.

While it’s dome shape makes it more adept at handling high winds than some cabin-style tents, the fact that the rain fly barely covers the roof means it didn’t perform too well in rainy or wet conditions.

Comfort

Although it boasts a ten person capacity, we found it to be a little tight with 8 people.

So…

We’d recommend it for parents with a maximum of four kids, really .

That being said…

It does have enough room for a cot or two if you’re car camping with a smaller family and you want a more comfortable sleeping arrangement.

And we really did like the D-style doors that allowed us to get out easily in the middle of the night.

Another reason we dropped down its score for comfort was the lack of a divider to separate the interior into different rooms.

Having spent time in this type of wilderness accommodation with separate families, we would find it essential to have multiple rooms where each family can have some degree of privacy.

Our Final Verdict:
Mountain Trails Grand Pass Tent

All in all…

This tent’s best application is for a large family on a budget.

It might not last as long as other models, but it also won’t break the bank if you’re not going to use it all that often.

Conclusion:
Mountain Trails Grand Pass Tent

If you’re searching for a budget-friendly option for 1-2 family camping trips each summer, this dome-shaped wilderness accommodation will suit you just fine.

Don’t expect to put multiple families into separate rooms inside this tent, but your single family unit should be perfectly comfortable.

The doors at the front make it super easy for anyone to get in and out without waking everyone up in the middle of the night.

And...

The windows at either end provide a nice cross-breeze on warmer evenings.

But the best part is…

It’s easily one of the most affordable options for this size on the market.

Our work here is finished! Now it's time for you to make your choice.
