How It Rode
Folding is the saving grace of a 75 lb bike. James and Libby unlatched the center hinge, folded the bars and slid it straight into a sedan trunk at the trailhead.
On the snow-covered paths of South Lake Tahoe the 20 inch fat tyres were nimble, and the peak burst easily handled steep, icy neighbourhood streets. Like most reviewers, they noticed a 2 to 3 pedal-stroke lag before the assist kicks in, worth knowing before you rely on it for an icy start.
It is a town bike first: in the deep snow ruts of Coldstream Canyon its small wheels got swallowed, so keep it to the paths and streets where it shines.
What Owners Say
Independent reviewers confirm the security catch almost word for word: the key locks the battery to the frame, not the bike itself. Anyone can walk up and power on the screen and lights if you leave it outside a coffee shop.
Should You Buy the Heybike Mars?
Treat it as a winter town and commuter bike, not a trail bike.
Best for: winter commuting and town riding where the bike has to fit in a small trunk.
