Best of all…

...what makes this tent super valuable is the durability of the materials used in its construction.

You can trust it to last for years to come, especially if you’re only using it for a few family trips each summer.

Our Best Value Award also goes to this design because of the full-sized rain fly that covers the entire roof and ensures everyone inside stays dry on a rainy night.

And still…

Even with the rain fly over the roof, it has enough windows and doors to breathe super well so you won’t be sweating on warm evenings!

Ease of Use

The poles that are inserted into the sleeves across the top of this tent are color-coded to make setting it up a breeze. Match the pole color to the sleeve color and insert gently to form the roof structure.

From there…

Six steel poles are installed vertically from one end to the other to give the tent it’s height and structure. This quick setup process is why it’s defined as an ‘instant cabin’.

And…

It’s why we were able to set it up in under ten minutes with very minimal effort.

It’s freestanding once it’s set up, but it does come with 18 stakes to help you secure it down if you’re expecting any wind during the night.

Putting the rain fly on is also easy because it attaches down to the four corners using bungee cords and a hook on the end that secures to the pin and ring system at each corner.

From there…

You can also tie down the guy lines if you want to make sure the rain fly doesn’t rest against the body of the tent, which is typically what causes condensation inside many tents.

Durability & Workmanship

When it comes to the durability and workmanship of this tent, it’s easiest to start from the ground up.

The bathtub-style floor of the tent is made from 115gsm polyethylene to prevent ground moisture from seeping through and onto your sleeping gear.

The tent fabric itself is 68-denier polyester, but everything is coated with water-resistant polyurethane as part of Core’s H20 Block Technology.

The poles are made of fiberglass and the seven-inch stakes are made of steel.

The rainfly is also made with 68-denier polyester that’s finished with that polyurethane coating for added water-resistance.

Weather Resistance

Our testing revealed that the best season for using this tent is summer.

But…

You can probably get away with using it during the spring and fall months, depending on the climate you’re camping in.

While all of the materials are coated for added water resistance, our main red flag on this tent was the lack of a full coverage rain fly.

As experienced outdoor gear testers…

We often seek out unfavorable weather conditions so we can really see how gear will hold up against the worst of the worst.

And if you’ve ever been in a big rain or snowstorm, you know that moisture falling from the sky rarely falls perfectly straight down.

So…

The only reason we knocked this design on weather resistance is because we know we won’t get the driest camping experience possible if the weather really goes sideways.

Comfort

You’ll be hard-pressed, however, to find a large accommodation that’s more comfortable than this one.

The 14’ x 10’ floor plan and 87 inch peak height combine to create ample space for up to 10 people to move about and sleep comfortably inside.

A room divider also allows you to create two private rooms on either side if you’re camping with multiple families.

Each wall also has multiple storage pockets below the windows where everyone can keep their personal belongings safely stored overnight.

And speaking of the windows…

It has a total of six mesh windows with zippered panels that can be opened to allow ample air flow throughout the tent on warmer nights.

And…

The doors on either side open directly into the two private rooms so that families have separate entrances and you don’t have to trip all over each other when you need to relieve yourself in the middle of the night.

Our Final Verdict:
Core 10 Person Straight Wall Cabin Tent

In all our testing…

We came to realize that there’s not a whole lot that separates the best large tents on the market today.

But the Core Tent 10 person Cabin ranked well on all of our factors while remaining one of the most affordable family tents out there.

If you add in the fact that it boasts enough space to blow up two queen-sized air mattresses inside, this tent becomes even more versatile.
