Coleman WeatherMaster Tent

This tent may be a tad pricier than some of the other models we tested, but it’s by no means the most expensive.

We do wish it was a bit more weather resistant, however, as it takes a fair bit of effort to fully weather-proof this tent yourself.

Its quality Coleman craftsmanship speaks for itself, as it comes fully fitted with taped seams, and an easy to use hinged-door.

Bottom Line?

This tent will be worth every dime you spend on it thanks to its amazing mix of comfort and spaciousness.

Ease of Use & Set-Up

Even with its extra screen room, this tent finished in the top 5 of its class for ease of use and set-up.

Being intimidated by the large number of poles, rods, and stakes necessary for the set-up process is normal, but we promise you need not be afraid of this tent.

Coleman WeatherMaster Tent

You can raise this tent in under 20 minutes, which is hard to believe when you see its huge size or feel its unique roominess.

Like any tent, however, we did find a few problems with its ease of use.

First, it does come with a somewhat hefty overall weight at 32 pounds.

It also comes with a plethora of poles which can be annoying and confusing to figure out the first few times you put it up. Specifically, there are 4 large straight poles, 4 shorter straight poles, 4 curved ridge poles, 2 door poles, and 2 awning poles.

Here is a great time lapse video of the set-up process.

But… as I mentioned before, these issues are us being a bit nitpicky.

With an overall score of 8/10 for ease of use and set-up, it’s amazing how this tent (quite literally) pops up at the campsite.

Durability & Workmanship

Nobody wants a tent that won’t last for multiple seasons because of poor craftsmanship.

If durability is one of your highest priorities then we’d recommend a tent such as the North Face Wawona 6 or the Eureka Copper Canyon 6 which scored exceptionally well in this category.

Unfortunately, the Weathermaster had some issues regarding its workmanship and potential longevity.

We found the Coleman stakes that came with the tent to be a little weak, and difficult to drive into the ground.

Also... the rain fly didn’t fully cover the tent screen (especially over the screen room), which could lead to weather-related wear and tear which will stack up over the years.

That being said… Coleman does make reliable tents, and they used their patented welded floors on this product.

Furthermore, it’s made from a durable poly guard fabric we loved.

Comfort

When camping comfort is king...the Coleman WeatherMaster takes the crown.

We really can’t say enough about the luxury this tent offers. For classic car camping scenarios, there may not be a better choice out there.

It easily fits two queen-sized beds, and its lofted ceilings are high enough so that most people can stand inside without needing to crouch.

Like most tents with screen room additions, the comfort level is enhanced by the option to enjoy a sunset, without so much of a thought about bugs.

Also, a tent with a screen house like this one is great for storing muddy or dirty gear after a long day outdoors.

Overall, the comfort factor of the Weathermaster is TopNotch.

Weather Resistance

Although it had enough room to fit an army, the Weathermaster struggled to keep that army fully dry.

If weather resistance is a make or break factor for you when buying an outdoor product, then maybe try the Kodiak Canvas Flex-Bow Tent rather than this.

Furthermore, its plethora of windows and doors can make inclement weather a little more tricky.

Coleman products often feature bathtub style floors and inverted seams, (meaning the seam between floor and tent is off the ground for better protection, and the holes of the seams are within the tent).

These floors and inverted seams make for a worthy opponent to dirt, rain, or anything else trying to get inside your tent’s cabin walls.

Our Final Verdict:
Coleman WeatherMaster 6-Person Tent

The Coleman WeatherMaster 6-Person Tent could make your next outdoor adventure so much more pleasant, comfortable, and enjoyable.

It comes with an additional porch which is useful and just plain cool.

If the issues regarding weather resistance and general durability are too big for you to overlook, then we would quickly recommend the CORE 6-Person Instant Cabin.

But… there is nothing better than hopping in a roomy, spacious tent like this after a night of campfire stories, smores, and cold beers.
