Livability

It’s rare to find camping products that truly take into account your comfort when living in the wilderness.

But Coleman nailed it with this design by including a bonus fan, six oversized windows, and an LED lighting system.

What does this all mean?

It simply boils down to making it super livable and comfortable for up to 9 people.

That being said…

The company itself states that it might be better suited to a capacity closer to 7 people, and we actually loved the extra space that we found in this tent with only 6 people in our group.

It did have straight walls to maximize the interior space and a seven-foot peak height that allows you to stand up comfortably inside.

The 140 square foot floor area also provides roughly 15.5 square feet of space per person, if the 9 person tent is filled to maximum capacity.

But…

With only six people in this tent, there was also plenty of space for gear storage because it’s one of the larger tents that doesn’t include an outer vestibule to provide a dry place for gear.

Weather Resistance

While the rain fly didn’t fully cover the straight walls on the sides, it does provide 100% coverage of the top.

The floor boasts Coleman’s Weathertec System and was made in a bathtub-style to keep the floor dry from ground moisture.

The construction of the floor also included welded and inverted seams for added water-resistance.

The zippers on the doors and windows were covered to prevent leaks along these seams, which is where many other products are compromised during heavy rain.

And…

Even though they’re not covered by the fly, the material in the walls is thick and water-resistant to keep moisture out even if the fly doesn’t.

On the flip side…

The integrated fan included in the Weathertec system keeps you cooler when camping in the summer heat.

The six oversized windows help to provide TopNotch ventilation in combination with the fan, which has a 26-hour runtime on high and a 34-hour runtime on low.

Value For Money

The price of this Coleman tent 9 person model makes it TopNotchvalue.

And considering the integrated fan cooling system, included LED lights, and durability of the poles and other components, the price is definitely right on this one.

But to be honest…

You will find reviews on other options at lower prices.

And even though this is the case…

...the added features you’ll be able to enjoy with this model make it more than worth this slightly elevated price.

Durability

Throughout all our tent reviews…

Durability has often been an area where the competitors have underachieved.

But this review turned up a great result for durability.

And part of that is because the six vertical poles are made of powder coated steel and the six roof poles are made of fiberglass.

The tent material itself is nylon and so is the fly that covers the entire ceiling.

And when we discuss durability…

We’d have to mention the fan and lights. Even if you’re using both of them at the same time, they have a 20-hour runtime on high and 27-hour runtime on low when used together.

Ease Of Use

The included LED lighting in the Coleman Signature tent makes it super easy to use when the sun goes down and you won’t even need a camping lantern to hang inside.

This includes a 75 lumen light that operates on 4D batteries and offers a 195-hour runtime on high. The runtime may increase if operated on a lower mode.

Even though it’s a large accommodation…

We found it pretty easy to set up if you have a few people helping. And once you have a little practice, you should be able to set it up (fly and all!) in under ten minutes.

The color-coded poles helped to make it easier to set up. Each set of poles had corresponding sleeves of the same color.

So…

There was no confusion over which ones go where when setting up the initial body.

And then the fly goes over easy and simply clips down to the four corners.

Versatility

While this tent is indeed freestanding…

It comes with steel stakes and guy lines that make it versatile enough to set up in heavier winds.

And because it includes an interior divider, you can separate the interior into two 10’ x 7’ rooms for added privacy if you’re camping with two families.

Don’t worry…

Both of these rooms are still impacted positively by the fan and the ample number of windows guarantees TopNotchventilation in both rooms.

If you’re camping on a warmer night, you can also leave the fly off to further increase the impact of the fan and windows for ventilation.

If you don’t fill this Coleman tent 9 person model to that capacity, it’s also versatile to offer sleeping space in a room and a small lounge area in the other.

You can either use that lounge for a rainy-day getaway space or to store your extra gear inside and under the fly.

Our Final Verdict:
Coleman Prairie Breeze Cabin Tent

After all of our reviews of the best large lighted tents, none ranked better than the Coleman!

We found it best-suited for summer camping, but it does have three-season capability if you need it.

The integrated fan and over-sized windows do make it best suited to warm weather camping.

Conclusion:
Coleman Prairie Breeze Cabin Tent

If you’re looking for a lighted family tent for warm weather camping, it’s going to be tough to find an option with more windows than this model.

But…

It’s not just the number of windows that’s important here because it’s really the fact that they’re bigger than most other windows we’ve seen in other reviews so that they promote even better ventilation.

And this model offers more cooling and lighting features than any of the competition!

With all that said…

It’s clear that the manufacturer didn’t focus too much on these “extras” and still made a durable tent that’s going to hold up for years of summer family camping trips!

So, we’ve done the hard work to bring you this definitive review - you know everything we know. Now we hand the baton over to you to make your choice and embark on your first wonderful camping adventure in your new tent.
