With a room divider allowing for convenient separation of space inside, you’ll also be able to fit two families of four comfortably without having to bring (and set up!) two separate tents.

Perhaps the only knock against its value is the lack of an external storage area.

But if you need this extra space…

You can always purchase the additional Basecamp Screen House for more storage or to create a covered, enclosed kitchen area.

Ease of Use

We’ve awarded this Browning tent 5 stars (10 out of 10) for ease of use for a variety of reasons.

First…

Just spread out the body and insert the three fiberglass roof poles through the sleeves on top.

Next…

Set in place the six steel uprights that support the roof and give the entire tent its structure.

At this point…

The entire tent will be freestanding and you’ll be able to start loading in your sleeping gear.

When you want to finish the setup process…

There are two more fiberglass poles to insert to create awnings over the two doors.

Stake it down at each corner if you’re expecting any wind - and additional guy ropes will allow you to add another degree of wind and weather resistance to this tent’s structure.

Durability & Workmanship

The Browning Camping Big Horn offers TopNotchdurability and workmanship.

For starters…

The steel poles that hold the roof weight and give the tent structure are stronger than standard fiberglass tent poles.

And the 185t polyester oxford fabric used in the main body construction is both lightweight and water resistant.

But the designers also made sure this tent offers plenty of space with a tall center height and straight side walls that help maximize the tent’s interior space.

And we loved the fact it included six windows and two doors so that each room has a separate entrance.

The tent as a whole boasts excellent air ventilation.

Weather Resistance

Once again, the Browning Camping Big Horn ranks very near the top of the pack in terms of weather resistance.

Let’s start from the ground up as we explain why…

The floor features a bathtub-style design made of 150D polyurethane-coated polyester oxford fabric that boasts a 2000-millimeter waterproof rating.

And it also includes factory sealed floor seams that help make sure  you don’t wake up with moisture on the tent floor.

The Browning Camping Big Horn also features a 75D 185t polyester fly that goes over the top to provide additional resistance against rain and moisture.

It’s not a full coverage rain fly, but it is UV-resistant and its seams are also sealed to prevent leaks in areas that even some of the best large tents are known to leak.

The walls of the Big Horn are also waterproof (we weren’t able to find the published waterproof rating - but - we never experienced any leaks during all the time we tested it!).

That said…

We do recommend following the manufacturer’s recommendation and treating it as a 3-season camping option.

This is mainly due to the lack of a full-coverage rain fly that would be able to protect against sideways rain and snow loads.

If you’re looking for a true 4-season option…

Check out the Russian Bear.

Comfort

One of the main features to add superior comfort to the Browning Camping Big Horn is its extra tall center height.

Campers up to 7-feet tall will be able to stand comfortably inside either room without scraping or hitting their head on the ceiling.

This extra height will also allow you to set up bunk beds or one of the best air mattresses inside without worrying about not being able to sit up in bed.

In terms of size...

The floor plan measures 15’ by 10’, which equates to 18.75 square feet of room per person (if you fill it to the maximum recommended capacity).

With its unique two-room design, it also provides extra comfort and privacy for two separate family units.

Aside from its size…

We found the Browning Camping Big Horn to be a great summer camping option because it’s so well ventilated.

The six windows provide plenty of air flow to keep everyone comfortable on warmer evenings.

There are a total of three mesh storage pockets for storing phones, wallets, and other valuables while you’re sleeping.

We loved the storage - it meant we could have access to our personal belongings without climbing over each other first thing in the morning or last thing at night.

Our Final Verdict: Browning Big Horn Tent

Overall…

The Browning Camping Big Horn is our Top-Notch Choice for the best 8-person cabin-style accommodation because it’s durable, comfortable, and easy to use!

The Browning hat-trick!

We loved how we could separate it into two rooms each with their own private entrances so that our two families could enjoy a little privacy (which can be hard to come by when camping in close proximity!).

We also enjoyed the amount of space we each had to spread out and still store some of our additional clothes and sleeping gear inside.

And we were delighted by the quality of the guy lines and steel stakes that helped to secure this tent.

Conclusion: Browning Big Horn Tent

We found the Browning Camping Big Horn is best-suited for mild weather conditions and car camping applications.

The Big Horn offers plenty of room for taller friends and boasts a capacity of 10 people.

And once we all loaded in…

We quickly realized the ventilation from its six windows came in clutch with all of our body heat in such close proximity.

When car camping..

The Big Horn packs down to dimensions of 12” by 30” and weighs just under 35 pounds so it won’t take up much room in your trunk or on your motor bike for a cross-country road trip.

So overall…

It’s an affordable and easy to use option best suited for young families who want a wilderness accommodation that’s designed to last for years to come!

We’ve made our choice, now we’re passing on the baton so you can make yours.
