Value for Money

Big Agnes is a well-known and well respected outdoor brand that makes quality outdoor gear. It's no surprise the Big Agnes Big House 6 nearly topped our charts for its Value for Money.

First off, we were impressed by its small packed weight of only 13 lbs, weighing much less than many of its competitors.

This Big House Deluxe also comes with an awesome mesh ceiling, which allows for optimal breathability within the structure.

Another valuable aspect of the tent is its storage capacity.

The tent has 10 smaller interior mesh pockets and 2 larger pockets, however, it doesn’t have any external storage unless you buy the accessory vestibule.

If the amount of outdoor value you receive per dollar on your outdoor gear is important to you…

...The Big Agnes Big House 6 may be just what you’re looking for in a 6 person tent.

Ease of Use & Set-Up

Although it wasn’t the easiest 6 person tent for us to hoist up at the campsite, the Agnes Big House 6 does have a fairly standard set-up process.

It uses a classic two-pole, X-shaped structure as its base and the poles are made from light-weight aluminum material. There’s also one more small pole that is used to create a small awning above the front door.

Big Agnes Big House 6 (Deluxe)

It is a freestanding tent (meaning it can be set-up without having to be staked down first).

Unfortunately, we did find it a little tricky to get the rain-fly over the top of the tent with only one person.

In total, the ease of use and set-up for this tent isn’t bad, and is definitely not enough of an issue to affect your choice.

Durability & Workmanship

Proving itself to be a true jack of all trades, the Big House 6 Big Agnes Deluxe also scored well for its durability and workmanship.

One unique aspect of the tent we found particularly well-crafted was its storage bag. The bag is easy to carry, and it’s amazingly simple to fit the packed down tent inside.

Big Agnes Big House 6 (Deluxe)

This is a great tent in terms of its overall quality. The workmanship of the door, for example, was impressive. The door is designed with a very handy “doorkeeper” which keeps the flap out of the way when it’s fully opened.

The doorkeeper’s design was much easier to use than the standard roll-up and hook door catchers we saw on the majority of the other 6 person tents.

With this tent though, you just pull the front door through the provided elastic loop on the outside of the tent and it’ll stay out of your way until you’re ready to zip it back up with its well-made door zippers.

We were a little surprised it didn’t come with flaps above the door zippers on the outside of the tent to help protect against rain, but it did have similar flaps on the door zippers inside the tent instead.

Like it did with its ease of use and set-up, this tent scored well in terms of its overall durability and craftsmanship.

Comfort

Of course, we found this tent overall comfort rating to be off the charts…

...I mean, it has the word Deluxe in its name!

The Big House 6 Deluxe uses its larger height and mesh doors/windows to create a spacious and breathable indoor cabin feel.

Also, its floor plan was large enough to fit a nice sized inflatable air mattress.

If you do decide to buy the accessory vestibule alongside the tent, it’ll only get more comfortable!

Overall we gave the Big Agnes Big House 6 an 8/10 for comfort, due to its truly unique feel. Since its poles start straight and then curve near the top, it creates a wonderful dome-shape, providing the inside cabin with optimal height and floor-space.

We did wish this structure came with a footprint, but unfortunately, you’ll have to order one separately like with the accessory vestibule.

Luckily though, the floor was made from durable and thick polyester material and then coated with polyurethane which made it fully  waterproof.

We guarantee that every time you set foot on its nifty little welcome pad by the front door, you’ll be excited to get inside and experience all the comfort this Big House Deluxe tent has to offer!

Weather Resistance

Both the floor and rain-fly of the Big House 6 Deluxe are coated in 1500 mm polyurethane, making them completely watertight.

Furthermore, the 6 deluxe came with guy lines on all four corners which we tightened enough so it didn’t budge when the wind picked up.

One thing that could be problematic is the lack of footprint, but as stated before, the quality material of the floor itself will handle nature’s worst situations.

This Big Agnes Tent - 6 person model is truly deluxe. If a comfortable stay at the campsite is your favorite thing about outdoor adventuring, then give this tent a try!

Our Final Verdict:
Big Agnes Big House Deluxe 6

Finishing fourth overall against the other ten quality 6 person tents we tested, The Big House 6 Deluxe won’t let you down.

In fact… it’s going to significantly raise the quality of any outdoor adventures.

If you want to check out our Top-Notch Choice, however, take a peek at the Core 6-Person Instant Cabin Tent.

In a lot of ways, the tent is built like a house, providing optimal comfort with its lofted ceilings and spacious floor plan.

Also, just like your house, it definitely won’t blow away or leave you wet when the weather turns ugly.

We recommend you take a good hard look at this Big House 6 Deluxe because it brings an incredible amount of outdoor value for a very reasonable price. Also, its amazing comfort and spacious interior are coupled with a small packed size.

Conclusion:
Big Agnes Big House Deluxe 6

Now it should be clear what exactly the Big House 6 Deluxe can add to your outdoor lifestyle.

This is a great tent for car camping, but honestly, its small packed size makes it possible to take this tent out for group backpacking trips as well.

Its front door is just one example of the quality thought and craftsmanship that went into the design of the structure.

Another great feature is the slightly curved poles that create its unique dome shape and lofted ceilings.

Unfortunately, the addition of a vestibule or footprint for this tent will cost you a little extra, as they don’t come included.

But… we found this tent to be a well-rounded member of our ten tent shootout!

We’ve done the hard work here - now we hand the baton to you to make your choice!
